ASK ON-LINE was developed as an e-learning database for hairdressers, combining theoretical and practical knowledge. The relaunch in 2008 was a reaction to new technical possibilities coming with web2.0 allowing user participation & mashup applications.
This project gave me the opportunity to combine my hairdresser background with the latest ideas on e-learning and my UX design competence.
Navigation and usability were limited in the old format, the imagery was static and the various language versions were disconnected from each other. The whole usability needed an upgrade and be visually much more engaging. We wanted alternative navigations, like structural but also associative and contextual to allow individual user journeys.
Gathering SKP educators and hairdressers on international workshops gave me ideas for the agency briefing, as did research on trends and competitors. This helped to develop an MVP from where we grew the product.
The idea was to have five languages version (English, French, German, Spanish, and Greek) online with the relaunch, followed by 8 more (Polish, Russian, Czech, Italian, Hungarian, Dutch, Finnish and Swedish) after 6 months, this made a very tight project management necessary also it gave me the opportunity to grow my stakeholder management skills.
Tagcloud and other UI

Update
In a current version, the social element could be developed much stronger, maybe in combination with an app. Voice User Interface design could be useful in some parts, e.g. when composing a formula for a specific hair color.
